In a sale that highlights the market promise of Soundtracs¹ new D4 next generation large format digital console and also demonstrates the increasing traction of the Fairlight/Soundtracs US distribution agreement, Fairlight USA today announced that Henninger Media Services of Arlington, Virginia has purchased four new D4 consoles. The company also purchased five Fairlight MFX3.48 digital audio workstations and will network them together using a Fairlight MediaLink Server. The server will also house an extensive library including Fairlight Audiobase2 and Fairlight Server Sound.

Celebrating its 18-year anniversary this year, Henninger Media Services is the country¹s leading audio and video production and postproduction facility. The company specializes in long format post services for corporate, television and film markets. Recent projects include long-term post agreements with National Geographic, Smithsonian and Centerseat.

According to Robert Henninger, president and CEO, Henninger Media Services, the new D4 exceeds all the audio requirements set by his engineering team and all of the business criteria he sets as a facility owner. "The D4 allows us to present our clients with the most versatile and comprehensive range of post production services in the country," Henninger said. "Our brand new, state of the art mix room will be capable of feature film surround audio mixing in the highest resolution available on the market today. The D4 will continue our leadership in the Hi-Def market while expanding our capabilities with our current clients. Commenting on the sale, Fairlight Vice President of Broadcast Sales, Michael Mueller said, "The D4 is an excellent console is so many ways, I would characterize it as the thinking man¹s large format digital console. As one of the most successful and progressive facilities in the U.S. market, Henninger¹s purchase of four consoles is a resounding endorsement of this characterization and, of course, this console."

One of the added benefits with the Soundtracs/Fairlight combination is that it enables Henninger to take a project from end to end in 96k.

Henninger¹s purchase of five Fairlight MFX3.48 systems is one of the largest deployments of the new QDC engine-powered workstation. Robert Henninger sees the implementation of the Fairlight network as a visionary commitment to a network complemented by the industry¹s fastest, most reliable and most comprehensive workstation. "QDC is a tremendous technology that synchs with our strategic mission to provide our clients the finest products and services by insuring that our engineering staff is the best-equipped in the industry," Henninger added.

The remarkable new QDC Technology engine featured in the Fairlight MFX3.48 sets an entirely new standard for digital audio processing. With it, Fairlight digital audio workstations are the only ones that run 96 kHz/24-bit on 48 tracks from a single hard drive. The QDC Technology engine offers unsurpassed digital audio performance and functionality. Speed and performance are significantly enhanced via the use of a distributed processor architecture employing Analog Devices SHARC chips, delivering 40-bit floating point processing for effortless real-time DSP capability. No matter how complex the operation, such as seamless, gapless, punch-in and punch-out across all 48 tracks, the QDC engine can handle it. This superior performance is available on all QDC-driven products from Fairlight, allowing for 48 tracks at 96 kHz/24-bit throughout its family of advanced digital audio workstations, including the, MFX3.48, Merlin, Prodigy2 and FAME2.
