Artel demonstrates VideoStorm™ technology at SCTE Cable-tec Expo 2001

May 9, 2001

Artel provides video networking systems to cable TV and telecommunications service providers who need to satisfy the ever-growing appetite for broadband digital entertainment. Artel's products transmit broadcast and interactive TV over multi-service networks. Artel's Cross Stream™ product line, powered by Artel's VideoStorm™ technology, is an MPEG video switching platform for ATM networks.
    SCTE Cable-tec Expo 2001
    Orange County Convention Center
    Orlando, FL
    Booth # 1358
WHEN: May 9-11, 2001; Wednesday 2 - 6 p.m., Thursday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Artel will demonstrate the following products and technologies at SCTE 2001:

VideoStorm™:
Transporting broadcast-quality video over packet-based networks VideoStorm technology enables cable TV and telecommunications network service providers to transport digital TV services over their existing broadband infrastructures with the same quality that up until now was exclusive to satellite TV. VideoStorm technology delivers the highest quality DTV, Video-on-Demand and ITV service across packet infrastructures for cable TV, telecom, Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and wireless (MMDS)service providers.

Cross Stream 155: Powerful MPEG video transport for ATM networks
The Cross Stream 155 Video Access Multiplexer family combines advanced MPEG switching technology with the ability to transport high-quality compressed video over asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) based wide area networks. Cross Stream products enable service providers in telecommunications, cable TV, satellite and enterprise businesses to deliver MPEG across wide area networks in real time.

Cable TV headend interconnect over ATM with multicast functionality Using MPEG encoders, a Cross Stream 155 Multiplexer, ATM switches, a Cross Stream 155 Demultiplexer and MPEG decoders, this demonstration will show MPEG digital TV transport from a master headend over an ATM network incorporating multicasting, jitter management and re-multiplexing.

DigiLink 1220
The DigiLink 1220 single channel fiber optic video transmission system has 12 bit encoding along with auto-detection of analog or digital inputs. This is an advantage for video service providers operating in both analog and digital environments.

DigiLink 8000
This multichannel fiber optic video transmission product offers baseband transport for up to eight channels per unit in a compact 2-rack unit space. The DigiLink family accepts modular optical laser cartridges compliant with ITU standard optical wavelengths for use in DWDM environments.
