SBC Communications and Multidyne at the Academy Awards®

For the second year in a row, Multidyne has played an integral role in SBC Communication's, efforts to provide video services for the Academy Awards. In 1999, engineers at SBC needed a video processing distribution amplifier to solve hum, ground loop and equalization problems at the venue site.
SBC was to provide over 100 video feeds in and around the Academy Awards site. With video signals traveling long distances, engineers required a long haul, hum-bucking and equalizing distribution amplifier with an integrated isolation transformer. In 1999 we designed and delivered over 100 fully custom systems in less than 3 weeks.
The demand for video feeds was even greater at the 2000 Academy Awards. So once again Multidyne provided over 100 units within 3 weeks.
Numerous Telco's and Video Common Carriers have standardized on the Multidyne VDA-8505 Long Range Field DA for all their video feeds. Most video transport equipment is not equipped to handle typical hum and equalization problems at a remote venue.
