vizrt Secures Major Deals For The Fourth Quarter Of 2000

New York, NY, November 21, 2000: The pace of sales of vizrt broadcast graphics products and virtual studio systems continues to increase with approximately $3 million having been booked and installed during the fourth quarter of 2000. This is in addition to a significant order backlog the Company had at the end of the third quarter of 2000.
Key sales for the period so far, include a raft of sales in Europe, Asia Pacific, North America and Latin America, proving the universality of the new product range that was launched in September 2000, following the acquisition of Peak Broadcast by RT-SET.
Commenting on the sales, Shlomo Nimrodi, vizrt President and CEO, said, "The most satisfying aspect from our point of view is that broadcasters are now looking to us to provide the complete and scalable range of broadcast graphics tools to create, manage and deliver their own individual look and feel to give them a competitive edge over their rivals."
Recent major sales have included, QVC Japan, Alter 5 Greece, RTL KLUB Hungary, ITN UK, Q-Bus Germany, IFE Mexico and US presidential elections with CBS and Univision.
QVC Japan, which was launched in June 2000, has purchased a set of broadcast graphics and virtual set tools to enhance the on-air look and feel of its presentations. The 24-hour television-shopping channel, that goes live in Spring 2001, is currently completing its Japan-based facilities. This sale follows the purchase of a similar solution to QVC in West Chester, PA USA, the HQ of the worldwide QVC operation
vizrt is installing a complete broadcast graphics package, including vi[z] modeling and vi[z] content pilot graphics content management solution, as well as a vi[z] virtual studio system – all using its unique NT-based platform.
Alter 5, Greece is a revitalised news broadcaster, which was looking for the most advanced technology to be at the heart of their station, to create a distinctive look and feel, in a crowded market place.
Purchasing the complete range of vizrt products, including vi[z], vi[z] virtual studio, vi[z] content pilot, vi[z] maps and vi[z] modeling, the station was looking for a comprehensive solution to creating, managing, storing and playing all of their visual inputs, graphics and data for news, financial information, weather, and complex productions.
RTL KLUB, Hungary is an existing channel striving for audience share in a fast growing and very competitive market.
To create their own program formats, to give them a competitive advantage over their rivals, as well as a faster to air system, they have purchased the complete suite of vi[z]rt products.
ITN UK, one of the major TV news broadcasters in the UK market, has purchased a vi[z] virtual studio and vi[z] content pilot to provide a solution for live event reporting. The system supports data feed automation to help the station build data presentation templates quickly and efficiently.
Q-Bus, a key production company in Germany, has purchased a vi[z] virtual studio to be integrated with their performance animation system. Already familiar with vizrt products, they have purchased the system for long term creative usage.
IFE, Mexico, the Federal Institute of Elections, which controls all the information disseminated during an election in Mexico, has purchased vi[z] virtual studio and vi[z] modeling, following a public tender. The systems will be used in up-coming elections to provide information to TV stations, radio stations and newspaper.
CBS News, a current user of vizrt's complete range of solutions, recently purchased two additional Windows NT vi[z] modeling licenses, and one for their SGI solution, all used to create graphics on CBS' recent US Presidential election night. The vi[z] modeling real-time 3D and 2D modelling and rendering solution was used to create and render all of the network's maps, charts and projected results.
Univision Network news department generated the entire graphic look of its nationwide presidential election night coverage employing vizrt's NT based solutions. Univision displayed all of its candidate projections with real-time 3D animated graphics. The real-time aspect of vizrt's software enabled the artists at Univision to instantly animate and select the order of the graphics, an element crucial in dealing with news as time-sensitive as election results.
