Belden's new, highly flexible fiber optic and copper composite camera cable meets or exceeds the physical, electrical and optical requirements of SMPTE 311
Details

Belden's new, highly flexible fiber optic and copper composite camera cable meets or exceeds the physical, electrical and optical requirements of SMPTE 311.

Belden announces a new cable that brings the clarity and quality only found with Brilliance cables, to camera systems. Designed specifically for camera signal and control functions, this new 6/2 (6 copper/2 fiber) composite cable mates with industry standard SMPTE 304M connectors and assures clear, reliable transmission of audio, video and camera control functions.

Ideal for Studio and Field Camera Applications
Designed specifically for high definition optical camera signal and control functions — this new Belden composite cable can multiplex audio and video signals and power.

Network studios, sports arenas, stadiums and production facilities are just some of the venues that will benefit from this new cable. Potential applications include interconnect of remote field cameras for Electronic News Gathering (ENG), and Electronic Field Production (EFP).

This new Belden cable is a perfect alternative for applications where stiff, heavy, triax cable is currently employed, or in long haul situations.

Riser Applications
The composite cable is CMR riser rated so it can be directly installed in floor-to-floor runs or through vertical shafts without
the need of costly conduit.

Meets or Exceeds SMPTE 311 Standards
This cable fully meets or exceeds the physical, electrical and optical requirements of the SMPTE 311 standard developed by The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers for the camera functions mentioned previously.

Superior Performing Fiber Optics in Breakout Construction
This new composite cable incorporates two breakout single-mode 10µm optical fibers. The fibers, color-coded blue and yellow, permit long-haul transmission of critical audio and video signals with extraordinary reliability and clarity.

The breakout construction greatly enhances the fibers' ruggedness enabling them to withstand the rigors of cable installation and remote field applications.

No other medium today can challenge fiber optics in bandwidth, distance and noise immunity. With fiber optics, the transmitted signals are not distorted by any form of outside electronic, magnetic or radio frequency interference.
Therefore, optical cables are completely immune to EMI, RFI or high voltage interference. Compared to conventional triax
cables of the same signal carrying capability, the smaller diameter and lighter weight of fiber optic cables means relatively
easier installation, especially in crowded areas. A composite fiberoptic cable weighs about 80 lbs. per 1,000 ft. A comparable RG-11 triaxial cable weighs 140 lbs. per 1,000 ft. — or about 2 times more.

Features/Benefits
Belden new composite cable delivers:

  • Longer transmission distances
  • Excellent noise immunity
  • The exceptional flexibility and
  • ruggedness of Belflex jackets
  • A CMR rated construction for riser applications.
  • Breakout fibers for superior ruggedness
  • Construction Details
Belden 7804B is a 9.2mm cable featuring six copper (four 20 AWG and two 24 AWG) and two Breakout fiber (10µm single mode) elements with a central stainless steel strength member. The jacket is constructed of Belflex material with rubber-like qualities that is highly flexible and durable, and suitable for field applications, indoor/outdoor and riser rated installations.
