The PowerVu High Definition Television (HDTV) system is delivered by the PowerVu HD High Definition Encoder and Decoder. This system supplies both MP@HL and MP@ML MPEG-2 encoding to meet the changing demands of DTV, including SDTV (Standard Definition Television). Picture quality with this system is unparalleled, with proven encoding techniques such as PHAME motion prediction technology making the images promised by DTV a reality.
The compression encoding system uses a sophisticated motion prediction algorithm, based on PHAME true sub-pixel motion estimation. PHAME is a patented motion vector processor featuring 200 Giga operations per second that uses a 320 MB neural network memory architecture. The intelligence in the algorithm exploits temporal and spatial redundancies with an extensive search area, as well as psycho-visual properties. This element is crucial for the accurate encoding and reproduction of dynamic motion video.
Other features of this system include pre-processing, high definition picture construction, and the PowerVu command center.
