NAB2000 Preview: Digital Audio Mixing Station

DSP Media Inc. modular digital mixing engine for the Postation integrated audio post-production system includes an audio editor, hard disc video playback, surround sound monitoring and an integral automated mixing system. The new engine, which comes in a modular 32x32 format, will allow up to 96 inputs under the control of Postation's moving fader and touch screen interface.

The mixing engine includes advanced algorithms for EQ and dynamics, which DSP have refined by comparative listening tests against classic analog processors. The system will accept AES/EBU and analog inputs and outputs and is linked to the Postation's surround sound monitor system. Event based automation is also part of the package, essential in audio post.

The engine allows for 6 band fully parametric EQ with two filters, compression, expansion and gating. DSP's software configures the engine to operate with a combination of bus types depending on the application.

Postation is also available for use with the Yamaha 02R mixers with similar control capabilities and the event based automation package.
