Green Dot Audio, a CD mastering and replication facility located in "Music City, USA", has a long history with NEUTRIK products. Originally begun as a sound reinforcement company in 1989, Green Dot Audio recently wired its facility using NEUTRIK connectors, jacks, plugs and color-coded boots.

"When I was configuring and delivering PA systems, I realized that the quality of the connection was just as important as the quality of the sound-that's when I discovered NEUTRIK," says Mark Nadlin, owner and chief engineer of Green Dot Audio. It was this experience using NEUTRIK connectors that led Green Dot Audio to become Nashville's largest distributor of NEUTRIK products.

At Green Dot Audio's CD mastering and replication facility, Nadlin does mastering, editing and short-run replication for record albums, radio airplay, songwriters, managers who are pitching new artists, tradeshows and demo reels for voice-over and studio vocal talent. Nadlin recently did a compilation of Little Richard songs for Sony Publishing and corporate data replication for General Electric and Nortel Networks. Mastering credits include Ray Wilie Hubbard (Country), Jeni Varnadeaux (Christian Rock) and Lori Meecham (Jazz). Demo credits include Brooks & Dunn, Kacey Jones and Alicia Elliot.

Nadlin is currently using panel-mount and "X" series cable-mount connectors on a custom-built patch bay at the facility. Nadlin also utilizes a combination of the NJ3FP6C Series panel-mount 1/4" stereo locking jacks, NYS 229 and NYS 230 1/4" mono and stereo open frame phone jacks. The NP2C and NP3C mono and stereo 1/4" plugs and NF2CB/2 Profi® RCA phono plugs are used for patching. There are plans to add a stereo balanced "tie-line" bay using NC6MX and N66FDL-1 XLR connectors. This patch bay will accommodate newly added balanced outboard processing and will enable patching of stereo signals with just one cable. NEUTRIK's products are connected to the facility's soundcards, effects processors, volume controls and sample rate converters.

NEUTRIK's NJ3FP6C Series consists of panel-mount 1/4" locking jacks, made to mount in the "D" series size mounting hole. The Profi NF2CB/ 2 is an audiophile-quality RCA plug designed for solid retention, accepts a large OD cable and has a unique "make first/break last" feature. The commercial 1/4" phone jacks are machined brass with features that include larger clamp and solder tabs. NEUTRIK's color-coded accessories are available in 10 resistor colors and assist in easy identification, while matching up to a variety of connectors.

"I have color-coded all of my S/PDIF digital cables with the color-coding boots for the NP*C Series connectors so I don't accidentally plug in the wrong cable to the wrong hole," says Nadlin. "They are my favorite because they make the cables easy to identify."
