Toshiba Adds HD DVD Drive And Intel Centrino Duo Processor Technology To Satellite P205

Irvine, CA - Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., recently announced the latest Satellite P205 desktop replacement notebooks, featuring an HD DVD-ROM optical drive and the latest Intel Centrino Duo processor technology for greater computing capabilities.

Equipped with an HD DVD-ROM drive, the Satellite P205-S6347 gives users the option of watching high-definition content at a resolution of 720p on its 17-inch widescreen display for an amazing viewing experience. HD DVD movies provide an image resolution that is six-times sharper than today's DVD format, giving users a next-generation visual experience. In terms of sound, the Satellite P205 is equipped with Dolby Sound Room technology, which delivers amazing virtual surround sound from stereo speakers or any pair of headphones and is designed for environments where multiple surround speakers are neither practical nor possible. Dolby Sound Room is made up of three technologies: Dolby Digital, Dolby Headphone and Dolby Virtual Speaker.

Each Satellite P205 notebook comes standard with a built-in Webcam and microphone to allow users to communicate with distant friends and family. Additionally, the Satellite P205 notebook series features an Onyx Blue Metallic lid, a newly designed rounded body design, a full-size keyboard and a widescreen mouse touchpad. Collectively, these features produce an elegant machine that offers the amenities of a desktop computer, in an attractive and mobile form factor.

By incorporating Intel's fourth-generation mobile platform, Intel Centrino Duo, the Satellite P205-S6347 provides greater performance for an enhanced Windows Vista experience, longer battery life and stronger wireless network interoperability. Intel Centrino Duo processing technology consists of several primary components including the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, the Mobile Intel 965 chipset and the new Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN supporting draft 802.11n1 wireless connectivity.

"With the inclusion of dual core processor technology and an HD DVD-ROM drive, the new Satellite P205 series has stepped beyond other notebooks in its class," said Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. "Users now have the ability to enjoy all of the unique high-definition multimedia features that the Satellite P205 series provides with greater wireless functionality and speed, while using less battery power."
