Duet System Architecture
Duet has an open-system object framework that supports 56 simultaneous, full-bandwidth video streams that can interconnect to intelligent processing modules with a real-time operating system. The base Duet system includes a 6RU rack-mount unit with high-speed backplane and auto-switching power supply, seven high-bandwidth Chyron expansion slots, a 2D/3D video graphics engine, a sync generator/input-output card, and an integrated Intel computer board and CPU. 10/100BaseT networking is standard.
Video Graphics Engine
The object-oriented 2D/3D graphics processing system provides geometry calculation, dual rasterizers with dedicated frame buffers, and is scalable to HDTV resolutions. VGE's are capable of internal keying/compositing: real-time background, video, and animated foreground graphics. The Chyron graphics processing modules support OpenGL operations and acceleration as well as hardware anti-aliasing, overlap, and layers.
Each VGE can process 2 channels of SD resolution, or 1 channel of HD resolution graphics. At SD resolutions, the modules provide frame grab and texture mapping on 2D/3D objects from a live video input. There is a scaler to size, move, and position live video in combination with graphics. Up to 5 VGE's can be combined with optional SD mixer cards.
