Multichannel MPEG-2 Encoder
Source: BarcoNet
The POLARIS Multichannel MPEG-2 Encoder conforms to both the 4:2:2P@ML and MP@ML sub-set of MPEG-2 and can encode each video channel to a bit-rate between 1.5 and 50 Mbit/s according to the requirements of the application.
BarcoNet Multichannel MPEG-2 Encoder conforms to both the 4:2:2P@ML and MP@ML sub-set of MPEG-2 and can encode each video channel to a bit-rate between 1.5 and 50 Mbit/s according to the requirements of the application. It may be configured for encoding up to three video programs with associated audio and data channels. The channels can be equipped with component (SDI) and/or composite (PAL/PALplus/NTSC) video inputs and the module has an auxiliary data channel input for program related data. The input accepts asynchronous RS-232 data at a rate up to 38.4 kbaud as input. The output multiplex can be output on a DVB-compliant parallel transport stream interface (SPI) or a DVB Asynchronous Serial Interface (ASI) intended for interfacing to satellite modems, ATM Adapters or as an intermediate interface in larger MPEG-2 encoding systems. It may be equipped with a 2, 34 or 45 Mbit/s G.703 interface for terrestrial transmission networks. It has two types of video interfaces, one for composite video and one for serial 4:2:2 digital component video (SDI).
Audio Interfaces
BarcoNet has an integrated way of optional configuration of audio and data. For BarcoNet up to eight audio/data interface options (per video channel) can be chosen. Any of the 8 side channels may be independently assigned to any of the video channels being encoded. The audio encoding can either be MPEG Layer II or Linear Audio (SMPTE 302M).
