Pro-Channel System
The new features are possible through the use of time tested, two-way industry standard (TIA/EIA-603) subaudible signaling (CTCSS), which provides for up to 16 unique addresses. When stations employ the Selective Calling feature, they can interrupt separate, individual crews without the message being heard by other PROceivers; they continue to receive main channel program. The Main Channel Pushdown feature means that when there's an incoming interrupt, the level of the main channel feed is reduced or can be switched off entirely.
A new feature of the PRO-II system is its ability to recognize two tone frequencies: it's own and a second one common to all units or groups of units as you see fit. Now, with the new All-Call add-on feature, all of a station's PRO-II receivers (or selected subgroups) can be activated while individual units can still be uniquely addressed. Stations can interrupt individual units at a specific location (or all units at the site) without interrupting crews at other sites. Stations with aircraft ENG can use separate All-Calls for ground and air units.
The MSI PROceiver II is an independent, aural-only non-intercarrier receiver that insures reliable detection of the PRO channel. It extends the coverage of the PRO channel well beyond that of intercarrier recovered aural signals and extends the coverage of main channel aural as well. In addition, the full bandwidth main channel monitoring of the Modulation Science's PRO-II system makes it easy to listen to for long periods without ear fatigue.
Modulation Sciences has also designed the PROceiver II with dual antenna diversity reception to eliminate multipath interference and has reduced the possibility of chroma interference with the PROceiver II's SAW filter. The full range of MSI's PRO-II features include: high efficiency audio processing and communications-style preemphasis; superior intelligibility and increased coverage; compatibility with all TV stereo generators and aural exciters--mono as well as stereo--and built-in modulation monitor and full remote capability.
