Kasenna MediaBase is now available for Linux OS-based servers and can be purchased from SGI and its resellers. This brings the hardware entry price for multiformat streaming capability down and gives customers a choice between powerful, scalable IRIX OS-based servers and multiple low-cost Linux OS-based servers.
The software offers an integrated platform for multiformat streaming, content management and content transfer supporting popular streaming formats such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, RealVideo, RealAudio, QuickTime and MP3. This software enables customers to quickly and efficiently create and deploy streaming media services.
