About Us
Apogee Electronics was established in 1985 for one purpose: to deliver the highest possible quality from digital audio. the founders of Apogee neither believed that the digital technology of the mid-eighties was perfect, nor that it was permanently inferior to analog. instead, they recognized that digital audio introduced a whole new set of problems - but maintained they were problems that could be solved. The first result of Apogee's research was a series of retrofit digital filters for a wide range of digital recording systems. These rapidly caught on and were soon specified by many of the top names in the industry. Further development followed, the aim being to address a whole series of problems in the digital conversion process. The end result was a true 18-bit resolution A/D converter - the acclaimed AD-500 - and a companion D/A, the DA-1000. From there, as the saying goes, the rest is history.
Another five-year development program resulted in the unique, proprietary UV-22 process, which flawlessly encodes the detail and precision of a high-resolution digital signal into the 16-bit domain for better sounding compact discs. This was re-designed from the ground up in 1999 to become UV22HR (High Resolution).
Several-times winner of the coveted TEC Award, Apogee Electronics now offers a complete line of digital audio products, from converters to cables, from DAT tapes and CD-Rs to mastering software for digital audio workstations. Explore this site to discover more about our products and our philosophy.
