K 5600 Inc. was started in California in 1992 by a team of designers of HMI lighting fixtures. Their experience with this technology dates back to the days when lamp manufacturers, encouraged by the success of their first 575Watt were racing to come up with ever-larger wattages…

These designers noticed that the other end of the spectrum, the small wattages, were being neglected and decided to apply themselves to the challenge of shrinking the large components leading to very compact designs and the creation of K 5600.

The company is very focused on its product line: HMI location lighting fixtures for fast set ups. The present product: The Joker-Bug is the result of a six-year old evolution. The first units, the Jokers, were essentially HMI PARs, but with the advent of Softer lighting and extensive use of Lightbanks or Chinese Lanterns the K 5600 designing team found it optically more efficient to offer a unique fixture without optics that would take advantage of the reflective material inside the Lightbanks and hence the Bug-Light was born…
Finally the two designs were combined to achieve the Joker-Bug as is known today. The Joker-Bug has a removable optical block and offers many lighting possibilities; its versatility is unchallenged and recognized worldwide. Many accessories have followed to complement this line of equipment: the Softube, the Slimverter 200W and 400W, the Slabverter and the Bug-A-Beam. K 5600 has offices in Mexico covering the Central as well as South American markets, and in France for: Europe, the Middle East and the African territories. While Australia, South East Asia, Japan and Canada are serviced through the US entity.
