About Us

Knox Video Technologies was founded in 1975 and was a pioneer in the design and manufacture of modern television studio equipment. The first Knox products were character generators for live broadcast titling. Having established a reputation for quality, flexibility and ease of use, Knox character generators were quickly embraced by both the industrial video and educational markets.

In an effort to meet the growing demands of the industrial video market and a desire to offer an alternative to unwieldy patch bays and high-priced broadcast routers, Knox Video began a transition in the early 1990's into signal routing and distribution. The first active matrix routing switcher, the RS8x8, was introduced in 1992. As the line of routing switchers grew, so did their popularity. Thus Knox developed routers to meet the demands of the broadcast and presentation markets as well. Meanwhile, Knox remained focused on the original mission: to deliver professional equipment at affordable prices. Presently, three comprehensive lines of products (RS Series, ProSwitch Series and Chameleon Series) are available, comprising more than 100 different routing switchers. These cost-effective, user-friendly switchers range in size from a 4x1 to a 256x128 and can handle composite to component video, balanced and unbalanced stereo audio.

As technology rapidly develops and merges, and markets are redefined, Knox is concentrating its efforts in three areas: serial digital for the broadcast and production markets, RGBHV and VGA for the corporate presentation market and elegant, and high-end equipment for the residential market.
