About Us

Media Concepts, Inc., founded by Marvin Luke, opened it's doors in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, in March of 1981. The initial purpose was to serve the broadcast community as a production company/consulting firm.

Shortly after establishing the company, Marvin assisted a friend in the sale of a partially-equipped television remote truck. As he contacted potential buyers, it became clear that there was an unfulfilled need in the television industry. The quandary was: what do people do with good used equipment? Up to that time, much of the used equipment in the country either went on a shelf in a dark room (which was usually entered only once or twice a year) or was traded to a manufacturer for new gear and then crushed. In either case, many times the owner of the piece didn't realize the FULL value of the equipment when he or she was finished with it. Marvin saw this as an opportunity to supply a vital need in the broadcast industry and formed another division of Media Concepts to re-market used television production equipment.

In 1989, vice president and partner, Gary Dennis, joined the company and in June of 1990, the business relocated to Tulsa, OK. That same year, the production division of the company was eliminated to enable the staff to concentrate solely on the resale of used production equipment.

Since then, Media Concepts has expanded it's staff, services and facilities and has grown into one of the largest sources for used television production equipment in the nation.
