Adtec Installs Seven Soloist 2 Broadcasr MPEG 2 players With SDi For Turner Studios
David Siegler, one of the Engineers at Turner who worked with Adtec personnel to install the equipment, noted that the product was purchased because of its low price, functionality, ease of operation, and compact design. He stated that the Soloist 2 is "…perfect for their needs."
According to David Cook, Adtec's V.P. of Customer Service, a significant element in Turner's use of the Soloist relates to how MPEG files are rendered for use by the product. Turner uses a DPS Velocity Real Time NLE for editing program content. Edited programs are then converted to MPEG 2 files using software from Ligos Technology. The concept of using software to encode MPEG 2 files is not new, but this is the first time that products from Adtec, DPS, and Ligos have been used together in a high profile broadcast application.
