A compact (1RU) and versatile aspect ratio converter offers 10-bit, true broadcast quality conversion of serial digital signals. Bi-directional operation allows the ARC125 to convert in either direction – for example from 16:9 to 4:3 or from 4:3 to 16:9 - or between any intermediate formats, standard or otherwise. The converter uses the company's experience of spatio-temporal algorithms for the conversion process, ensuring high quality output pictures.
Among its features, converter provides a video indexing capability. Aspect ratio information embedded in the incoming SDI can be used to set the required ratio automatically, without any need for operator action. The same function allows the converter to inform downstream equipment of its aspect ratio setting, a powerful capability when the picture information is to be compression encoded.
