The first commercial products containing BiDAT technology are now available. The patented, low-cost BiDAT transceivers support bi-directional data transmission at rates of up to 56Kbit/s, over more than 1000-feet of low-cost audio cables. Data transparently coexists on the same cabling as the audio signal. The transceivers allow speakers to communicate with decoders and amplifiers, without the complexity and expense of a sophisticated network communications interface. The transceivers are part of the company's Studio portfolio of licensable professional audio technologies, which also includes DHIVA 1394 interface modules, WireFree wireless audio modules, musical DSP modules, and PAWS audio watermarking codecs.

JBL Professional's new intelligent sound reinforcement system called EVO is a complete plug-and-perform sound system that uses BiDAT transceivers to send digital control data over standard audio cables, without any audio interference. EVO enables a new era of digital control over room equalization, feedback suppression, delay settings and amplifier dynamics via in-speaker BiDAT transceivers. JBL uses the transceivers to send IR volume and signal processing data to powered speakers. In addition, the EVO system contains integrated heat and feedback sensors that automatically detect and transmit fault conditions to the front-of-house hub. With such advanced use of technology, the EVO is poised to become the system of choice for all-in-one sound reinforcement systems for schools, houses of worship, arts centers and many other small and mid-sized installations.
