Blue Stream Fiber Selects Vecima To Launch And Manage Complex Multi-Vendor IPTV Platform

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX: VCM), a global leader focused on developing integrated hardware and scalable software solutions for broadband access, content delivery and telematics, today announced that Blue Stream Fiber has selected Vecima’s MediaScaleX™ solution to power the delivery of their complex multi-vendor IPTV solution. Leveraging Vecima’s technical experience, the platform will be managed and implemented via Vecima’s Master Project Management solution.

With MediaScaleX, Blue Stream Fiber will offer a full IP integrated solution to their customers. Deployed across over 300 channels, including local, sports, international, and premium content sources, subscribers will benefit from modern features such as network DVR (nDVR) and time-shifted services like startover/catch-up (SoCu). The new services offering represents a significant quality of experience improvement for Blue Stream Fiber’s video subscribers.

“In order to provide our customers with a great TV experience, Blue Stream Fiber is in the midst of upgrading all of our customers to the most advanced IPTV platform in the industry. We chose Vecima because of their ability to deliver on edge capacity, an efficient private copy solution, transcoding flexibility, and centralized storage,” said Joe Canavan, CEO at Blue Stream Fiber. “Strong references from other operators, their ability to coordinate IPTV resources across multiple vendors, and a fundamental understanding of the challenges posed by IPTV projects made Vecima the right choice for us.”

Upgrading their existing system to a complete end-to-end solution allows Blue Stream Fiber to consolidate IPTV Transcoding (File & Live), Origin, Cache, and Centralized Storage. Streaming their media workflow from ingest to delivery accelerates Blue Stream Fiber’s go-to-market timelines, reduces operational costs, and expands their footprint.

“Demand for video streaming is increasing globally, and consumers expect simplicity in watching video anytime and anywhere,” said Clay McCreery, Chief Operating Officer at Vecima. “Mid-size operators are looking to upgrade their existing platforms with fast launch timelines, and limited resources. Vecima is able to seamlessly serve as an extension of their internal technical and project management teams, utilizing prior experience to deliver on a schedule that meets aggressive timelines.”
