Demodulator/Decoder
The DDM-510 is capable of demodulating an ATSC transmission received over the frequency range from 54 MHz to 806 MHz (Channels 2 to 69). The demodulator displays the program information of the received transmission on a front panel LCD. The demodulator generates an MPEG-2 transport stream compliant with the SMPTE 310M requirements.
The MPEG-2 HDTV decoder de-compresses the demodulated MPEG-2 program streams, accepting either HDTV (main profile at high level) or SDTV (main profile at main level) formats, and generates analog RGB or YPBPR (selectable) Component Video and SVGA signals for monitoring the video program selected. A separate connector provides for the selected AC-3TM encoded audio bit stream output. In addition, the decoder will produce a stereo audio output for the selected channel for monitoring purposes.
The DDM-510 will provide an external MPEG-2 interface (in addition to the SMPTE 310M) and a command/control interface to allow connection to a separate future expansion rack. The future expansion rack will provide expanded sub-channel decoding capability when more than one video program is transmitted on a single RF channel.
The DDM-510 is packaged in a standard 2RU rackmountable chassis. The front panel has a 4-line, 24-character LCD, a 3-character LED display and status LEDs.
