Fisher Companies (Seattle, WA) has announced that Patrick M. Scott has retired as president and CEO of Fisher Broadcasting for personal reasons. Scott will be replaced by William Krippaehne Jr., president and CEO of Fisher Companies. Following his resignation, which is effective immediately, Scott will serve as special advisor to the chairman of Fisher Broadcasting until his retirement next year. Upon Fisher's resignation, Benjamin Tucker, Sr. VP of the Fisher Television Regional Group, was elected exec. VP for Broadcast Operations. Fisher has 13 network affiliated stations in the northwest and southeast US.
Robert Mancuso, president and CEO of Acrodyne Communications (Blue Bell, PA), has resigned and will be succeeded by Nat Ostroff, who will continue as VP of new technology for Sinclair Broadcast.
Mancuso resigned after Acrodyne, which develops broadcast transmission systems, announced its decision to move its corporate headquarters to Hunt Valley, MD, closer to Sinclair's base of operations in Baltimore. Mancuso, who had been president since 1994, will remain as a member of the Board of Directors and will be available for special projects, as required.
Tiernan Communications (San Diego, CA) has appointed Richard Bauarschi to the position of VP for marketing. Bauarschi has held senior sales and marketing positions at Pioneer and Sony. Micah G. Elliot has been appointed to the position of Sr. director, business development – carrier markets. Elliott was previously business development director for Lucent Technologies' Wireless Networks Group.
Michael Wilbur has joined data broadcaster Wavexpress (New York, NY) as its Chief Financial Officer. Wilbur joins Wavexpress from Road Runner, LLC, the joint Media One/Time Warner broadband service, where he served as VP of Finance and Administration. He also coordinated Time Warner's Orlando-based Full Services Network video-on-demand trials.
Former Liberty Digital exec Sharon H. Brown has joined OpenTV (Mountain View, CA) as its Chief Marketing Officer. Brown was previously exec VP of programming and strategic marketing at Liberty.
Itelco (Westminster, CO) has appointed a new chief for its technical and R&D department. It's Gianpiero Scrascia, who will serve as the company's Technical Director, overseeing a staff of over 60 engineers. Scrascia, a 12-year veteran of the electronics industry, comes to Itelco from ELES, an Italian-based provider of quality control and test products for the microelectronics industry where he also served as Technical Director.
Former CBS chief Peter Lund has joined the advisory board of dotTV (Pasadena, CA), a distributor of web addresses with the ".tv" domain. Lund is currently CEO of Dreamlife, Inc. personal growth Web portal.
