Digital Video BroadcastTime Shift Server
The Viewgraphics, Inc. system receives a digital data stream containing multiple compressed broadcast channels from a long distance high bandwidth communications link. The system stores the entire digital feed and retransmits the signal after a programmable delay.
Viewgraphics, Inc. eliminates the need for expensive conventional video and audio equipment in a digital broadcast facility, by staying all digital and entirely compressed. Before Viewgraphics, Inc., broadcasters had been forced to decompress every channel in the digital feed, store the program channels using conventionalvideo and audio tape or disk technology, and then play out and re-encode every channel at the appropriate time. Video recorders and particularly broadcast MPEG-2 encoders are very expensive pieces of equipment. Now, DéjàVu TSS streamlines the entire operation by recording the complete multiple program digital stream and delaying it intact for subsequent rebroadcast to populations in different time zones.
