The HD270 DTV/HDTV video disk recorder incorporates Sony's HDCAM HD SDTI processor card set
The HD270 DTV/HDTV video disk recorder incorporates Sony's HDCAM HD SDTI processor card set and sets the stage for fully switchable HD/DTV applications without generational video loss in the broadcast and post production marketplaces. The card facilitates the direct transmission of the bit rate reduced HD digital video (according to the HDCAM recording format) between the Sony SHW-500 HDCAM VTR and the disk recorder via the 270 Mbps SDTI serial interface, thus avoiding any decoding/encoding process.

With a simple software switch, the recorder allows broadcast and post professionals to move between standard uncompressed 8 or 10 bit 4:2:2 video processing and 1080i HDTV processing offering quality operation in both domains. Built upon the industry standard Quickframe, the device utilizes Sony's HD SDTI interfaces to transport video with virtually no loss to HDCAM VTRs or to other Quickframes. As expected, it also incorporates all the features of a standard Quickframe making it a suitable VDR for HD editing, telecine, duplicating, still/clip store and server for broadcast and playout applications.
