DiviCom Wins Time Warner Cable Digital Deployment

C-Cube subsidiary DiviCom Inc. (Milpitas, CA) will supply digital head-end technology for Time Warner Cable's television system, which serves the New York City metropolitan area.

DiviCom will deliver the digital encoder portion of the cable head-end system. The encoders will work with Time Warner Cable's existing digital set-top and conditional access system (CAS) technology to launch a new era of digital television for New York audiences. The DiviCom/Time Warner Cable partnership will enable the cable company to combine existing og cable programming with a new tier of digital service. Time Warner Cable will launch this new digital service to subscribers in the second half of 1999.

The company's compression, multiplexing, and network management system components will enable Time Warner Cable to expand the number of channels offered, deliver better quality, and minimize the total hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) bandwidth used. DiviCom will supply MediaNode MN20 Multiplexers, MediaView encoders, and the Thesys Network Management System to enable the digital deployment.
