The platform extends the television experience for broadcasters, advertisers, content owners and viewers by placing large amounts of digital storage into the set-top-box (STB) or digital TV set. According to the company, it's more than a TV set combined with a digital VCR, because 'smart software' within the TV set seeks out and records a viewer's favorite shows and the TV program's metadata allows the software to intelligently gather, store and present information and entertainment as a viewer requires.
The end-to-end system includes a complete delivery, scheduling and control system that gives broadcasters an interactive environment that supports their business aims. It also includes a suite of head-end applications, which allow broadcasters to enhance the consumer viewing experience through content-associated metadata, tag advertising to support current and future advertising models as well as analyzing viewer behavior for data mining and market research.
