DTV Proponent Nominated for 2nd Term to FCC

Susan Ness, one of digital television's biggest proponents, has been nominated by President Clinton for a second five-year term as commissioner to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Ness, a Democrat, was first nominated in 1994 and is considered one of the most respected members of the commission. She has been a steady voice for the digital television transition, continuously goading opposing industries into agreement and advocating market solutions to transition issues.

She is expected to accept the nomination, which would continue to make her the commission's most senior commissioner.
