Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems CompanyWA is the latest addition to the PV series that now includes 1/2-inch and 1/3-inch 3-CCD camcorders and fixed-installation cameras, studio, editing and IEEE 1394-equipped VTRs, video servers, nonlinear editing, video archive and audio production products.

Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems CompanyWA combines high-sensitivity 2/3-inch 520,000 pixel IT 3-CCDs with DVCPRO's digital component recording quality to offer a high-performance camcorder for independent producers, corporate video departments, and local cable and broadcast facilities.

Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems CompanyWA features 66 minutes record time, 10-bit digital signal processing, a signal-to-noise ratio of 55dB, and minimum illumination of 0.5 Lux. It consumes less than 24 watts of power and weighs 14.5 pounds in ready-to-shoot condition. The camera accepts a wide variety of 2/3-inch lenses.

Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems CompanyWA offers a wide range of field production-oriented features including Super Gain to boost gain by a full +36dB for high-quality shooting in dim lighting, and Super Iris to adjust the iris to provide correct exposure of backlit subjects. A programmable three-position gain switch allows the operator to select from 11 settings for complete control of low, medium and high gain preferences. A six-speed electronic shutter (1/100 to 1/2000 sec) features Synchro Scan to reduce flicker when shooting CRT displays. A four-position (3200K, 5600K+1/8ND, 5600K, 5600K+1/64ND) ND/CC optical filter wheel allows quick, on-location adjustment to the ambient light source. White balance and black balance levels are preset, and operators can store two adjustment values in memory for each position.
