A fiber optic platform enables cable television (CATV) service operators and telecommunications service providers to converge standard digital television (SDTV) and cable television transport streams with data and telephony services over a single optical fiber. The enhanced MegaWav multi-channel dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) platform increases fiber optic network capacity to enable multiple video, voice and data services to be carried across the same fiber infrastructure. The platform is the first DWDM video-networking product that enables the cost-effective deployment of multi-service networks. It combines up to 16 inputs carrying high quality video transmissions in their native format which can be multiplexed with other services such as cable telephony and internet access, allowing providers to harvest the maximum bandwidth of the cable network infrastructure. When matched with the company's DL8000 multi-channel fiber optic video transmission system, the platform allows CATV operators to simultaneously carry up to 128 channels of broadcast quality video over the same optical fiber along with telephony and data.
