Grass Valley to add VNI to Profile platform

Source: Grass Valley Group
In a move designed to expand its focus on the newsroom environment, Grass Valley Group (GVG, Nevada City, CA) has announced it plans to integrate Video Networks' (VNI, Atlanta) NewsTracker interface with GVG's Profile XP platform.

A common interface between the systems will allow editors to move video from a VNI server directly into a Profile platform as well as GVG's Vibrint digital hard news production systems, simplifying newsroom operations, allowing multiple users to use the same media and, most importantly, improve time to air.

The alliance builds on an agreement that VNI announced last spring to interface and integrate NewsTracker to Vibrint's Digital News Production platform for hard news editing and news playback. Vibrint is now owned by Grass Valley.

Future collaborations between the two companies will include an interface between GVG's ContentShare software platform for media asset management and VNI's Media Commerce Network through the Digital Media Gateway (DMG). VNI's DMG interactive application for broadcasters combines Internet, satellite and telephony technologies to manage digital content and distribute it to traditional media outlets as well as the Internet.
