Haivision And Grass Valley Fuel Real-Time Video Contribution For Live Cloud Production

Haivision joins Grass Valley Media Universe Alliance with qualified flexible contribution into GV AMPP from the award-winning Makito X4

Montreal, QC (PRWEB) - Haivision (TSX: HAI), a leading global provider of mission-critical, real-time video streaming and networking solutions, and Grass Valley have announced a qualified solution that enables high-quality, low latency, multi-camera live contribution into Grass Valley's GV AMPP (Agile Media Processing Platform) cloud production workflows.

The collaboration sees Haivision’s award-winning video encoder – the Makito X4 – become a qualified solution with the GV Media Universe for synchronous multi-stream live contribution to GV AMPP at a time where more media and entertainment companies than ever are turning their attention to the benefits of cloud-based technologies.

Integrating the award-winning Makito X4 encoder with the cloud-based GV AMPP ecosystem provides content producers with the ability to not only reduce the cost of production, but also benefit from a faster and more efficient workflow. Makito X4 encoded contribution streams can now easily be used as live production sources or recorded for later use by any application on the AMPP platform. Furthermore, GV AMPP users can leverage scalable and flexible capabilities, frame-accurate workflows, full compatibility with Grass Valley connected control surfaces and applications, all without upfront buildout or sacrificing system responsiveness regardless of distance from the processing resources.

The Makito X4 can encode and stream multiple synchronized camera feeds over an IP network, including the internet, to GV AMPP. It offers unparalleled quality and rock-solid reliability at extremely low latency allowing broadcasters to contribute their valuable live content into GV AMPP in real-time with complete confidence. With native support for the Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) open-source protocol, originally developed and pioneered by Haivision, the Makito X4 streams pristine video quality to GV AMPP, even when faced with packet loss, jitter, latency, and fluctuating network bandwidth.

“While the industry is very enthusiastic about the benefits cloud production can provide, our audiences expect us to maintain high-quality image standards. That starts with putting the best quality images into the production system,” said Sydney Lovely, Chief Technology Officer, Grass Valley. “The powerful combination of Haivision technology and GV AMPP will provide broadcasters with the high performance and flexibility they need to deliver unmatched viewing quality to their audiences.”

“We are proud to work with Grass Valley and its game-changing GV AMPP platform to power cloud-based live production,” said Peter Maag, CMO and EVP Strategic Partnerships, Haivision. “With a firmly established reputation for our high-performance edge encoders, this joint solution reinforces Haivision's steadfast commitment to helping broadcast, media, and entertainment organizations unlock the power and agility of the cloud.”

Designed as an ultra-low latency H.264 and HEVC video encoder for contributing live content in 4K, HD, and HDR over IP networks, the Makito X4 encoder is available as a compact lightweight appliance for table-top usage or as a blade for modular installation in a 1RU or 4RU chassis, supporting up to 84 HD or 21 UHD encodes.

GV AMPP is central to the GV Media Universe, Grass Valley’s vision for transitioning to the SaaS and cloud-based future of the digital media industry with a comprehensive ecosystem of cloud-based tools, services, and pre-qualified solutions that revolutionizes the way live media is produced. GV AMPP delivers cloud-native and cloud-agnostic support for the processing of video/audio in a variety of cloud-centric ways — public cloud, private, on-premise data center, or in hybrid topologies — giving customers a simple way to unlock flexible, distributed production workflows, easily and rapidly scaling cost and features up or down as needed.

The qualified Makito X4 video encoder and GV AMPP solution are available through their respective sales channels globally. On Wednesday, September 22, the companies will be hosting a live webinar: Live Cloud Production Fueled by Grass Valley, Haivision, and SRT. Register here to attend.
