HDStore is a Windows NT-based system that records and plays real-time, fully uncompressed (1.5 Gbit) serial digital HDTV video using the standard QuickTime file format on standard NTFS file systems. The system features the frame accurate control of an external VTR and support for standard file formats. It can act as a stand-alone workstation for production, compositing, and mastering as well as an I/O server for a network of PCs, Macintoshes, and SGI systems. It is designed for the professional post production, broadcast and entertainment industries.

The system's basic configuration can record and play 40 minutes of uncompressed, 4:2:2, high definition serial digital video (SMPTE 292M). Users can process data in multi-generation, multi-layer composites without fear of compression or recompression artifacts or generation loss. The system supports 1080i (support for 720 P, 1080/24 P, and 1080/24 sf formats will be available). The company offers the SDxstream standard definition option (SMPTE 259M) that lets users record and play four hours of uncompressed 525-line (480i) and 625-line digital video . For maximum flexibility, QuickTime files in any or all of these video standards can coexist with any other data files in the system's NTFS file system -- users do not need to partition drives by video format.
