IMAKE Launches Content Creator for Digital Editing

IMAKE Launches Digital Content Creation Solution for Video On Demand and Broadcast Content: OpenVision Content Creator Provides Intuitive, Open Standards-Based Digital Media Creation, Management and Editing

Bethesda, MD — IMAKE, the major provider of solutions and services that enable the seamless delivery of interactive and On Demand broadband services, launched OpenVision(TM) Content Creator, an open standards-based software tool that encodes content into Video On Demand (VOD) and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) digital asset packages and associates CableLabs-compliant metadata. IMAKE OpenVision Content Creator is a cost-effective and easy-to-use platform that enables the creation, management and editing of digital media. IMAKE's newest solution is designed for use by content providers who must prepare media prior to distributing it to a service provider, as well as service providers who deliver locally-focused content to regional markets.

With the initial launch, Content Creator is integrated with Harmonic's high-performance DiviCom MV 100 standard definition and MV 450 high definition encoders. Harmonic (www.harmonicinc.com) is a leading provider of digital video, broadband optical networking and IP delivery systems to cable, satellite, telecom and broadcast network operators, and its products are used globally to deliver thousands of channels to millions of viewers each day.

Content Creator is part of IMAKE's new OpenVision product suite that will be launched at booth 5164 at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) show on April 3-5 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

OpenVision Content Creator operates as a standalone workstation that integrates easily into a content provider's production environment. Key benefits of the OpenVision Content Creator include:

  • Digital MPEG editing, media encoding and automated validation of associated metadata ensures that content from a variety of sources is properly prepared and compliant with CableLabs standards prior to distribution.
  • Streamlined user interface and standardized templates make it easy to encode content to industry standards with minimal technical training.
  • Automated integration of business rules, such as content pricing, into metadata, ensures consistent adherence to company standards and policies.
  • Validation of encoded content ensures a high level of accuracy. OpenVision Content Creator checks that all content is syntactically correct and complete to ensure a high level of accuracy in transmission.
IMAKE's Chairman and CEO Mark Schaszberger said, "IMAKE saw the need in the marketplace for an open standards-based, streamlined, low-cost solution for creating digital asset packages for use as On Demand content. OpenVision Content Creator offers an on-the-spot straightforward solution that accurately converts and properly encodes On Demand content. And when selecting our flagship integration for this product, we selected Harmonic, a company that is recognized worldwide as the gold standard in encoding technology."

David Price, Vice President of Business Development at Harmonic's Convergent Systems Division, said, "Harmonic is pleased to be working with IMAKE, a leader in On Demand technology. Our shared commitment to providing the highest quality open standards-based digital entertainment solutions is a natural fit that will benefit both content and service providers."
