Ligos Releases MediaRig Encoder SD

New dual channel MPEG-2 encoder available as a complete "out of the box" 1U rackmount system

San Francisco, CA — Ligos has announced that the newest iteration of their MediaRig broadcast MPEG-2 encoder line, MediaRig Encoder SD, is now available. MediaRig Encoder SD is a feature-rich, cost-effective system suitable for broadband, satellite and terrestrial applications, and is now available as a complete "out of the box" 1RU rackmount system capable of processing two channels. Ligos will demonstrate the impressive features and superior quality of MediaRig Encoder SD next week at NAB2005 in Las Vegas, Booth # SU9632.

Combining dramatic improvements in the Intel platform with Ligos' own innovative software and hardware design, MediaRig Encoder SD is the compact, reliable alternative that redefines the cost vs. performance tradeoff that service providers have traditionally been forced to address. It supports standard definition MPEG-2 (MP@ML and 4:2:2P@ML) video, simultaneous encode of dual inputs with built-in multi-channel multiplexing (MPTS/MCPC) or as individual TS streams (SPTS/SCPC), constant and variable bitrate, MPEG and Dolby Digital audio, PSI/SI control tables, and output to DVB-ASI, file (including IMX), and UDP Multicast via IP. In addition, MediaRig Encoder SD features Ligos' exclusive techniques for motion estimation and rate control that result in picture quality that exceeds that of many hardware encoders.
