Media 100, Omneon in Streaming Media Pact
The two companies say the combination will provide integrated tools and infrastructure for collaborative production with a strong focus on streaming media. Omneon will demonstrate an integrated system at NAB2000 in Las Vegas in April, using Media 100's iFINISH digital video production streaming system with its Video Area Network in an Internet production environment.
"As the market for video-enabled Internet services rapidly grows, we believe that streaming media is going to become a dominant broadcast model, creating tremendous opportunities for production infrastructure to support the emerging demand for content," says John Molinari, CEO of Media 100.
Omneon will also leverage Terran Interactive, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Media 100, and its Media Cleaner Pro products to transcode Media 100 files into Quicktime for storing on the Omneon file system ready for streaming. The Omneon video networking and storage system is data-independent and is able to store native iFINISH alongside Quicktime files.
