Media Asset Management System

MediaWorks Version 1.2 is a comprehensive digital asset management environment, allowing post and broadcast users to acquire, create, manipulate, store, archive, retrieve, transmit, and display their digital assets. Combining asset management, recording automation, low-resolution frame accurate proxy browsing and marking into a scalable client/server architecture, the system runs on any LAN-based PC workstation, providing a complete, integrated and end-to-end digital asset management solution. The system provides a number of important new features aimed at increasing overall system flexibility and compatibility, while continuing to provide a complete and comprehensive environment for managing digital assets.

New additions to the platform include source control for VTR devices and three new recording modes for video ingest. In addition, the system now includes support for both the SGI MediaServer and GVG's PDR family of video servers; EDL support for AVID/ALE, CMX 3600 and CMX 3600/Discreet; new development tools to allow system integrators to build custom datamodels and dialogs; and new ingest features such as indexing on time code discontinuities. Combined, the features form a flexible, adaptable and scalable infrastructure that provides a high-performance asset management platform.

The system allows users to view assets quickly with a frame-accurate, low-resolution proxy. Workflow is speeded, while the integrity of the high-resolution broadcast originals is preserved. Typical applications for include the following: corporate assets repositories; sports and news media systems; offline pre-editing; post-production proofing; and broadcast monitoring. The uses StudioCentral to catalog and index all assets under configuration. The StudioCentral Library provides an adaptable and scalable infrastructure that can manage any type of asset.
