Mindport Outlines Plans for Expansion into North American Market

The technology subsidiary of MIH Ltd. (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Mindport (Chicago), plans to venture further into the North American market by partnering with industry players, introducing an OpenCable compliant digital set-top box, and offering a point of deployment (POD) removable security module for conditional access (CA) applications and the deployment of Mindport's suite of IP broadcasting and IP scrambling products. In preparation for its planned expansion, the company has recently established a wholly owned subsidiary, Mindport Inc., in San Diego.

The company is also developing a North American sales channel in order to bring to the market its existing suite of media commerce technologies for pay-TV. These include og and digital conditional access, customer care and billing software, interactive set-top box operating systems, set-top boxes, content management solutions, and interactive applications.

Mindport's digital set-top box will be fully OpenCable compliant and will feature OpenTV's interactive operating system, Internet browsing capabilities, POD removable security functionality and two-way operation via a DOCSIS modem. The POD removable security module will be strated at the CableLabs summer conference (July 12-14) as well as the FCC interoperability event (July 26).
