ShakeOut from Snell & Wilcox provides real-time correction to the problems of unsteadiness frequently encountered in television pictures. It enables material to be used which might otherwise be considered too unstable to be viewed.

Moreover, because unwanted motion in pictures consumes additional compression bandwidth, its removal represents a significant advantage for digital broadcasters.

ShakeOut requires no modification to existing equipment such as cameras, and can be used for unsteadiness correction either live or after footage has been committed to tape or other storage media.

ShakeOut is an automated unit which does not require the operator to set any anchor points. Sports coverage often necessitates the use of long lenses in gusty conditions resulting in shaky, juddering pictures. The amateur video footage often incorporated into news broadcasts can also feature high levels of unwelcome camera shake. ShakeOut eliminates this problem with one pass through a sophisticated, on-line box to provide stable, viewable pictures free from any unsteadiness.

Using Snell & Wilcox Ph.C motion estimation technology, ShakeOut can differentiate between picture changes that are wanted, eg: pan and zoom, and those such as camera shake that are not. Compact and easy to configure, ShakeOut will provide clear and stable images from the most unsteady sources so that pictures from OB locations are as watchable as those from studio cameras.
