Tiernan Communications, Inc.is an MPEG-2 encoder for single or multi-channel DSNG. The video inputs are either analog composite video (PAL or NTSC) or serial digital video. The two stereo audio inputs are either analog or serial digital audio. The compressed digital output is a DVB compliant MPEG-2 Transport Stream. Tiernan Communications, Inc.compresses the incoming video with an adaptive field-frame MPEG-2 Main Profile @ Main Level algorithm. The video compression is performed with I, B, and P frames using bi-directional predictive coding motion estimation. The two stereo or four mono audio channels are compressed using the MPEG-2 audio encoding standard Layer II. The two user data channels support both synchronous and asynchronous serial formats. Control and system status is provided by a push-button front panel with an illuminated LCD display.
TE300A provides one-touch button control of the built-in modulator for carrier on/off, carrier low, and modu-late. Additionally, remote control is available using ASCII commands via the EIA-232 remote control and ethernet ports. The TE300A's rugged chassis is 2U (88.2mm) height, 19" rack mount, with rear panel cabling and weighs less than 7kg/15 lbs.
