ChyronAbstraction Layer (CAL) is a network interface API that provides hardware independence and a programming environment for development of DUET applications. It provides libraries (DLL, DCOM) and other components, plus full documentation and sample code for developing custom applications. Built on top of a platform independent software driver, CAL applications may be previewed/displayed on any system running Windows NT (4.0 or later).
CAL is a tool for real-time display of data and objects. It is implemented as a 32-bit Windows component that can be incorporated into the functionality of any high-level program written for Windows NT using Visual C++, Visual Basic, or Delphi. Multiple Duet systems can be controlled from one CAL application, or multiple CAL applications can access one target system simultaneously. A CAL application can operate locally on Duet using a Chyron supplied DLL; or run remotely across a network via Microsoft's DCOM. An Intelligent Interface emulator is included to support most commonly used Intelligent Interface commands.
