NewSoft Moves The Digital Home Closer To Reality With Presto!

Presto! Wireless Video Recorder Solution Delivers Content to Your Home Network While You Record Wirelessly

San Francisco, CA -- NewSoft, a leading provider of innovative business and consumer software, proudly announced today that the digital home moved much closer to reality when it released Presto! WVR (Wireless Video Recorder) at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF). Adopting Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g technology, Presto! WVR enables the digital video sender to broadcast Digital/Analog TV, AV to multiple PCs, notebooks or PDP or LCD monitors connected to hardware video receivers. As a result, users can view video content on multiple televisions or displays, even edit their favorite video programs on their own PCs or notebooks from anywhere in their home, making the most of the digital entertainment experience.

"With the digital home coming of age, people want to receive their favorite video content from a variety of sources and have the freedom to view their content from a variety of locations," says James Li, President of NewSoft. "This means that content will need to be recorded, delivered and viewed wirelessly. Presto! WVR is the ideal solution for users to enjoy their home video entertainment."

The Presto! WVR is ideal for home entertainment users providing several powerful technologies including unique AV broadcasting ability, seamless viewing capability, a high-performance DVD burning kernel, an enhanced MPEG transcoding process and Dynamic Transport Stream Control Mechanism (DTCM). A truly flexible solution, Presto! WVR allows users to select a digital video sender, combined with the user's choice of either the NewSoft Presto! PVR software and/or a hardware video receiver. Additional hardware video receivers for PDP/LCD viewing, additional video senders, even NewSoft's Presto! PVR can be added as the user's requirements grow and change.

NewSoft's standard package includes a digital video sender and NewSoft's Presto! PVR for video recording and editing. The software includes time-shifting, MPEG 1/2 recording (MPEG 4 encoder optional), DTCM and seamless playback technology. The DTCM error handling mechanism automatically corrects signals received under unstable signal environments ensuring a smooth reception. Presto! PVR users can also watch video programs on multiple displays around the home by simply connecting the optional hardware video receivers to any standard PDP/LCD monitor.
