Odetics Announces E-commerce Solutions for Brokering Video Via the Internet
A wide range of uses is envisioned for the eDETICS system, including applications for Web delivery of archived television news, resale of stock video footage, corporate communications, education and advertising. The eDETICS internet video delivery system makes archived video available over the Web in the same way that stock photography from photo archives is selected and purchased today.
Odetics is previewing the eDETICS system at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention being held April 19-22 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Show visitors are invited to view a pre-release demonstration of the system at Odetics' booth in the main convention hall #L21120.
"eDETICS will help video content owners unlock the significant revenue potential of their video assets," said Joel Slutzky, chairman and chief executive officer of Odetics. "Video enhances the Internet experience and eDETICS is the next- generation tool for buying and selling video over the Web."
The eDETICS system will integrate Odetics' existing video asset, media and storage management engines and the company's current video browsing system with a comprehensive e-commerce solution. The new pieces of the system, currently being developed, include support for leading Web browsers, and transaction processing. The end result will be a powerful, integrated video e-commerce system for managing all aspects of buying, selling and delivery of visual information assets.
Currently, Odetics markets three products that will comprise the foundation of the system:
The Roswell( Facility Management System, is a total media and material management solution for the precise management and tracking of all audio and video material in a broadcast facility. The Roswell system is built on Microsoft's Windows NT 4.0 operating system and utilizes Oracle's database management software to provide an open-system solution for interfacing with business systems.
The Bowser, Visual Asset Manager, introduced at last year's NAB Convention, is the first video browsing system for the broadcast industry that lets users access, see and hear an entire media database from a PC. Bowser enables real-time playback of frame-accurate video with stereo audio over a TCP/IP network.
Odetics' Data Library Manager delivers an integrated solution for digitizing, and archive storage management of video assets. The Data Library Manager stores and tracks video-data files in digital tape libraries such as ATL Products DLTtape libraries.
