April 5, 2002, San Diego, CA -- Opticomm Corporation, an innovative designer and manufacturer of fiber optic transport systems, has introduced their newest fiber optic video transmission system for broadcast applications.

The DVX-104 offers broadcasters reliable high-performance transport of one SDI with four external audio channels or two stereo AES/EBU signals at up to 270Mb/s over one single mode fiber. Designed to surpass industry standards, the DVX-104 exceeds the DVB optical interface requirements. Featuring a Bit Error Rate (BER) of 10-14 and an easy Plug-and-play design, the DVX-104 gives broadcasters and service providers the high quality results and ease of operation they demand.

David Caidar, CEO of Opticomm Corp. explains "Conventional coaxial cables can carry digital video signals only a few hundred meters, the DVX-104 carries the signals up to 40 Km using single mode fiber with no degradation. This makes a huge difference in terms of distance, reliability and quality of transmission."

The DVX-104, complying with 259M and 272M standards, is designed for a wide range of digital applications requiring the highest of quality, such as Digital Television, Studio-transmitter links, Radiology & Medical Imaging, and Sporting/Special Events coverage.

Opticomm will be displaying a prototype of DVX-104 at NAB2002, Booth S4833, Sands Expo Center
