Panasonic intros new DV products for prosumers
Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems Company has rolled out a new line of DV-format products for its PROLINE product family.
The new line of products includes what Panasonic says is the industry's first DV camcorder to use large DV cassettes – the AG-DVC200 DV camcorder, which will be available in January. The camcorder can record for up to 4.5 hours and features many functions available in Panasonic's professional DVCPRO line.
Also new to PROLINE is the AG-DVC10 mini-DV camcorder, a 3 CCD unit that can record up to 80 minutes of serial component digital video and weighs 4.8 lbs. Other new products include the AG-DV1000 mini-DV VTR and a new series of master-grade DV videotape. The AG-DVC10 and VTR will be available in October.
The new products target "prosumers" who want to create professional looking digital video content using intermediately-priced professional hardware. "When video users make the decision to go pro, the first place they have turned is Panasonic's PROLINE, because it has offered the widest selection of pro video gear at the most affordable prices," says Stuart English, Panasonic VP of marketing.
