TANDBERG Television Launches New Voyager Family of Digital-ENG and DSNG Solutions at IBC 2001
Entire TANDBERG Television mobile contribution range re-branded under Voyager umbrella
October 1, 2001 - N/A, a leading supplier of open solutions for digital broadcasting, confirmed its pioneering lead in the mobile contribution market with the introduction of its new Voyager family of solutions for Digital Electronic Newsgathering (D-ENG) and Digital Satellite Newsgathering (DSNG) at the recent IBC convention in Amsterdam. The Voyager family is designed to provide professionals in the newsgathering and outside broadcast industries with the world's most comprehensive range of high quality, flexible and robust solutions for satellite and terrestrial mobile contribution.
"TANDBERG Television is a leading innovator in the DSNG market and we invented the D-ENG sector. At IBC 2001, we continued our pioneering lead with the launch of our new Voyager family of solutions, alongside the first public presentation of the results of our acquisition of AVS earlier this year. As well as our exciting new 'backpack' wireless camera solution, we've shown how we are moving up the value chain in D-ENG solutions, combining our D-ENG OFDM technology with AVS' RF expertise and systems engineering skills to offer complete end-to-end systems for the global D-ENG market," says Noel Matthews, Business Development Director of TANDBERG Television.
At IBC 2001, TANDBERG Television new launches included:
- Voyager Lite - ground breaking 'backpack' D-ENG solution designed for wireless cameras and incorporating high quality video encoding with an integrated DVB-T modulator/upconverter providing RF output.
- Voyager DSNG - two new compact DSNG solutions in 1U (Voyager E5714) and 2U (Voyager E5740) versions. Combine low bit-rate encoding performance with totally flexible satellite modulation in a fully expandable and upgradeable package.
- Voyager D-ENG range - a family of products to build end-to-end D-ENG systems and provide a total TANDBERG Television solution including Tx amplifiers and antenna, receive antennae and downconverters, and Alteia integrated receiver/decoder. All fully supported with the systems design and integration expertise of TANDBERG Television and the newly acquired AVS.
- Voyager E5100 & E6100 - the introduction of an optional integrated
upconverter to these D-ENG encoding systems designed for truck applications (E5100) and for newsgathering helicopters (E6100 with ATR chassis).
- Combined D-ENG/DSNG - TANDBERG Television will launch a unique QPSK option for the E5100 D-ENG system, which allows one outside broadcast truck to support both D-ENG and DSNG transmission, with a reconfigure time of less than 30 seconds.
