Fully-fledged broadcast satellite digital broadcasting services will be start in Japan this coming December. The industry is anticipating a strong take-up rate, with 10 million households expected to have broadcast satellite digital broadcasting equipment within 1,000 days of the launch of these services.

They are also equipped with an i.LINK terminal supporting easy connection with a digital recording device, allowing construction of an audiovisual digital network with a television at its center.
