Tokyo, Japan, November 29, 2000: vizrt announced today that QVC Japan, which was launched in June 2000, has purchased its broadcast graphics and virtual set tools to enhance the on-air look and feel of its presentations. The 24-hour television-shopping channel, that goes live in Spring 2001, is currently completing its Japan-based facilities.

vizrt, the world's leading provider of fully integrated broadcast and web-cast graphics solutions, is installing its complete broadcast graphics package, including vi[z] modeling, vi[z] content pilot and vi[z] virtual studio system - all using its unique NT-based platform.

David Frey, vice-chairman, QVC Japan, said, "I was most impressed with the power of vizrt modeling. I found that vizrt offered one of the most comprehensive live 3D graphics solutions on the market. QVC Japan will network seven vi[z] content pilot systems to provide real time 3D graphics in both a live and post production environments.

"We plan to use the vizrt system in conjunction with our Maya animation software. This integrated solution will offer real-time flexibility to QVC's onscreen graphics and when combined with the vizrt virtual studio will enable us to utilize either animated or video- based virtual sets."

Commenting on the sale, Alon Carmeli, vizrt Vice President Marketing and Business Development, said, "While the QVC concept is well known around the world, the new Japan-based station wanted to create a local look and feel to their operation. vizrt has provided QVC with an integrated real-time and cost-effective solution to meet their requirements."

This sale follows the purchase of a similar solution to QVC in West Chester, PA, the headquarters of the world-wide QVC operation. The system installed in 1999 included six vi[z] modeling applications for on-air graphics. At QVC it is common to automate and reduce time-to-air of on-screen information including prices, product details and special offers.
